9 Top Contenders Emerges for Ooni of Ife Stool

             

9 contenders have emerge from the Giesi ruling house  for the vacant of position of the Ooni of Ife who died recently in London.
The Giesi ruling house has been the family responsible for producing the Ooni over the century.
35 names initially emerge, so that the best could be chosen, the ruling family set up a screening committee which meet in the weekend in the compound of Agbedede Lane in Ile-Ife.

A source that attended the screening Committee meeting told the Sun “Well, that is a good development for us and we are sure that a good man will be picked as the Ooni. This is the normal process and we know it will not cause disaffection.
The normal thing is that the Ruling House will send names of qualified candidates to the kingmakers. For instance, the Ogboru family sent 14 names, out of which the late Oba Sijuwade emerged.”
The Nine contestant that made the list to be submitted to the Kingmaker are Princes Aderemi Adeniran, Alani Adelowo, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Taye Ogunleye, Adegboyega Ologbenla and Gbadegesin Ologbenla.
Others are Princes Adetunji Adeyemi Ogunwusi, Bankola Ojulalayo Adediwura, and Adetona Sikiru Ayedun.
